Unitec has four libraries across its three campuses. The collections vary from branch to branch in accordance with teaching needs at that location, but our full range of services is able to be accessed from all our locations. See the 'how to find us' page on this site for addresses and directions to each library location. Opening hours are on the left menu.
Mt Albert - Building One
The Building 1 Library at the north end of the campus has the resources needed for the architecture, design, performing arts and landscape architecture programmes. Its collections include Trade catalogues related to the architecture and construction industries, and 'Arts Files' with art exhibition catalogues and other information on NZ artists of an ephemeral nature, with pictorial content. It also holds a special collection of plans and papers related to landscape designer Fred Tschopp.
Mt Albert - Main Library
The Main Library is our largest library conveniently located near the Hub. It caters for programmes taught at the south end of Mt Albert campus, including education, business, computing, communication, health, natural sciences, construction, languages, sport and trades. Te Kohinga Maori is a collection of resources which focuses on subjects pertaining to Maori and Maori culture. As well as a variety of study spaces, there are six bookable study rooms.
Waitakere
The Waitakere Unitec Library is integrated with the Waitakere Public library, except for the third floor and
Learning Commons which are only for Unitec students. This joint library venture is unique in New Zealand and staff and students benefit from the diverse nature of the resources available.
The wireless network allows the library laptops to be taken to all three levels of the library building. Study spaces include a bookable group study room. As a small branch, the Waitakere library staff get to know you well and provide a friendly, down to earth service.
North Shore
The library at our North Shore campus provides resources that focus on the vocational programmes taught there such as applied technology, trades, English language, business and computing. Services range from from traditional Library Services (eg borrowing library material from any Unitec Library) to providing technical support in the Learning Centre, which is next door to the library the (Room 2007).
